Ugg Boots - the Story behind the Phenomenon
In Australia the term "ugg boot" referred to a style of Australian boots made made out of pure sheepskin.

In World War One, many pilots wore fleece lined "FUG" (flying ugg) boots. Also the same style was worn by Australia farmers back in the 1930s to keep their feet warmer. The Origin of the "Ugg" name
Rumours have it that "ugg" is short for "ugly" - so, "ugg boots" describes"ugly boots." For decades, "ugg" was generic term used for sheepskin boots made in Australia. Only hand wash the boots. DO NOT use a washing machine under no circumstance. First, moisten sheepskin footwear with clean, cold water. Then wet the entire boot when cleaning to ensure equal drying or else you can end up with visible water lines. After that, dilute Cleaner & Conditioner with ½ water and ½ Cleaner & Conditioner. The apply a small amount of diluted Cleaner & Conditioner to a clean wet sponge. Warning: DO NOT apply Cleaner & Conditioner directly onto footwear. Gently scrub to clean entire area. Take caution that sheepskin has a delicate surface, which can be damaged if scrubbed aggressively, or with an undiluted concentration. Finally, rinse clean in clean, cold water, wringing out excess water. Then lightly stuff with paper towels to hold shape and allow the shoe to dry naturally and slowly. DO NOT dry in direct heat or sunlight. Once footwear is dry, lightly brush with a very soft suede/nubuck brush in only one direction.
